    Turpentine Creek

A few more from the big cat sanctuary. Anyone have any suggestions for shooting animals through a chain link fence like with the tiger cub? I just tried to keep him in focus and to not have the fence block his eyes.

    Re: Turpentine Creek

I find that using a telephoto lens and getting closer to the fence tends to make it more soft focus. I've done this with baseball shots. experiment and let me know how it turns out.

Too bad all the people who know how to run this country are busy running taxicabs or cutting hair.

    Re: Turpentine Creek

Other than use a very shallow DOF, move very close to the fence, and focus as far away from the fence as possible .. which I suspect you already tried (and it didn't work !) ... no suggestions !! I had this same issue as the San Diego zoo a month ago - they seemed to have designed it just right to block photographs.

The first and third ones are my favorites. That's a big cat in the 3rd one. The cub looks like a nice pet.

Other than the fence in the way, the first and third ones have the best pose and moment. good comp. As suggested, shooting as close to the fence as possible with a long zoom and shallow dof is the best way to eliminate it. It looks like you did it somewhat in the 4th one
