    A Trip to the Airport

Here are a couple from a recent trip to the local airport. I really want to get better at this, so please don't hold back on the criticism, but please also include why you think the way you do.

    Thanks,

    PC

PC I really like the first shot here although the light is a bit strong in the top left. I like the shape of it all and what you have included and the colouring is very nice on the eyes.
The second is also fine but it just not as interesting.

Two interesting shots. The top one's more utility looking. I like the second better, though it seems somewhat cold to me. I'm thinking it would be better with a warm sunset glow reflecting off the metal. It's format seems unconventional -- not sure of the aspect ratio. Could be that the DOF you used throws me off (in a good way). In all, a very different type shot.

I like the first one because it made me think about what it was. I also like the warm light, the composition and DoF.

    Good job.
    No, I DON'T need that.

Tom - Thank you for commenting. I see the bright area you mention. I don't recall seeing it in the original RAW file so I could probably tone it down some without too much trouble. I was initially drawn to the light and shadow here along with the textures on the metal so I hope they come across.

GB - Thanks for the lighting recommendations. Also thanks for commenting on the unconventional nature. I'm trying to see the "different" side of things, but it doesn't always work out that well. I took some other, more traditional shots and find they're just too boring.

MB - Thanks for commenting and the encouragement.

    Thanks for looking and commenting.

I really like the first one, I wonder what it would look like flipped 180?

Both are pretty good. I too like the first one best because of the textures and shapes made by the parts or sections. the second shot can use a warmer tone as was already mentioned. Perhaps you could just raise the color temp of the RAW file in processing. I like that you offset the prop spinner cone from dead center.

Re: A Trip to the Airport

Greg - That's an interesting suggestion. I guess my biggest concern is that would have the light coming from the bottom instead of the top, but it's abstract enough that it may not be a problem.

Gary - Thanks for your insight. I'll warm it up (and probably lighten it up as well) to see what it looks like. I'm glad you like the offset. I was trying for some fairly simple shapes, but didn't want it to look too static.

    Thanks again,

    PC

Nice shots PC! The first one is my hands down favorite, I'm just a sucker for textural abstracts. The shapes, colors and light all really come together on this one. Good eye.
