Looks like Toronto, Canada, but you have too much sky and not enough detail in the building. The red colour of the building toward sunset would give you a more dramatic photo, but move in closer and try a different angle.

Tao, I like the diagonal lines of the crosswalk a lot...they work well with the shape of the building, I think. The one thing that throws me off, is the truck on the left of the shot...I might have cropped it out of the pic, myself...but that's probably a personal preference.

I like the pic, but when I put it next to vertical line the scence seems to be shifted or tilted. Other than that I actually like the contrast of the pic, and it was warmer I don't think it would work for me, but I like contrasty pics so I'm biased.

    Re: Triangle Pub

    Thanks for the input everyone.
Ronnoco - I agree 100% about the lighting conditions...a sunset would hit the left side of the building and produce some great tones and shadows. I will have to try a re-shoot.
The detail of the building is actually very good in the print...it the 9"x6" print, you can see even see the cigarette the worker is smoking. This is in Seattle.

Emily - I had a problem with the crop...the full version had a crosswalk bar right at the corner of the print creating a weird jig and cutting the truck all the way off produced too tight of a crop on that side...once again I think a re-shoot is in order.

fraser - I think the scan came out a bit tilted, the print has straight verticals...this is something I made sure of on the easel many times...a lot of different angles going on.
I'm glad to hear someone enjoys heavy contrast in their photos too

Thanks for the help ya'll...I hope to go back down and get another shoot with the above suggestions in mind.

This is similar to the way Walker Evans would depict a some street locations - allowing the building to stand out yet exist easily within a wide expanse of surrounding.

I might recommend a perspective adjustment, "spreading" the top of the image to allow the building to appear more upright.

    Hey PT,

Nice shot. I'm sure it's a lot of work for you to put these together. I appreciate the effort.

For me, I think this location is worth working it over. I agree with Ronnoco about getting in closer. For me in this shot, the wide angle leaves too much pavement that doesn't hold my interest.

Tuna - thanks for the advice...I will try that on my reshoot.

    Tim-
It is effort...but I work at a computer for my job and getting into the darkroom is the only way I can really enjoy this hobby...so the effort is very rewarding.

Since concentrating on the building is a common comment I'll have to bring my 50mm to get some tighter shots.

This building will be photographed heavily the next time I'm downtown.
    Cheers.
