    Trestle

I took a shot of this last year, and I think this new one is better. Let me know how you like it.

    Re: Trestle

I really like the color and the compostion on this image, but the leaves look way over sharpened to me. For a shot like this, I would try sharpening only the trestle, and leaving the leaves alone, or at least not sharpen them as much as the trestle.

    Re: Trestle

Well... it's an interesting location... but the shot for me is too yellow and a bit on the bright side.... some color tweaking might fix the deal..

As far as composition is concerned, i find here that there is too much foliage when the subject is the trestle (trestle is the railway thingy right??) I would have preferred to see the trestle more and less of the trees.... i think your exposure would have worked then!

But a good shot after all...

I really like this one. The great collection of yellow against the brown bridge works very well. Are the leaves oversharpened? I don't know, but I like the overall effect they give to the photo. My one small suggestion, every critic has one, is that I would have liked to see the bridge further to the right so it leads the eye into the photo rather than out of it.

    Very nice shot!

    Re: Trestle

I think it works best on the screen with a square crop.
I agree, the effect on the leaves in the background is distracting.
I think it's oversharpening, or the leaves are right on the limit of resolution.
I also find the sky through the leaf canopy too distracting, it may be better on print though.

I would like to see this again as the colours deepen.

Don't change the position of the rail, as I look at it the rail on the right leads you in to the picture nicely.
But when you reach the end of the rail, there's nothing to take your eye anywhere else.
That's why I think square is the way to go with this.

Thanks for the comments. The leaves did get oversharpened in this one. Also, I like the idea of a square crop, it would get rid of some of the leaves higer up and focus more on the trestle. I will try it again in a week or two when the colors have changed more and repost it.

    Re: Trestle

I like it. All the trestles that had been abandoned got demolished before I could get any photos of them about 1970..... It was a logging RR.
