Interesting perspective Roger. I like the wedges of gold and green leading up to the posts that continue bringing your eye along to the end. The mitteny looking tree is cool too. Looks like it was worth it to get up early that day.

very nice...the sky is great and the colours are really beautiful. there is also a lovely perspective in this photo, and all the elements lead the viewer in the right direction.

    great work

    cheers

Great colors and lines! My concern is the shadow on the left doesent fit in with the comp very well. I think I would cheat a little and clone some of it out. I like it anyway. What trees are planted there?

Great looking but that tree on the left ruins it for me. Also it appears that the f-stop was rather low and for landscape its better to have a bigger f stop number.

In the full image that I have with no compression it is pin sharp and you can see the tree planting going all the way around the far side of the field, So what your seeing is the compression and resizing artifacts.

    Exif:
F 8.0 max the Canon Powershot Pro 1 does, equivalent to f22 on a 35mm SLR
    1/60th
    approx 40mm lens for a 35mm camera

As for the tree I think it would look empty without it and impossible to take it without the tree as its the first in a long row of trees going down the road.

Feel free, anything to help improve my photography, By the way the shadow is cast from a tree behind me, checked today.

And the trees seem to be a mixture of native trees, e.g. sycamore, oak, birch...Checked this morning and took another pic in a mist, will look at it later and may post for comparison.

    CL and anew,

Thanks for the comments - I printed this yesterday and I really need to get a new printer or improve my printing skills, because I can't seem to get the colours printed properly.

The original is much better than the one posted as there seems to be many artifacts introduced from the reduction and compression. You can actually see the planted trees all the way around the field to the top of the picture in the original.

CL. Up every morning at this time taking my daughter to school so get lots of opportunities on this run. Already posted many pictures of the school run! By the way love the description of the tree.

Thanks for that, I see where your coming from.

I can see the branches, and the shadow thats been cloned but can't see the dark sky thats been cloned.

Don't you think the shadow now looks like a shadow of a person?

I must admit I went for the darker pic on purpose, You have made some interesting improvements and I can see why but personally I think I prefer the original because the shadow now looks like a person and the branch you cloned out has made the hedge on the other side of the road look uneaven and too tall throwing out the perspecive.

By the way the photo from this morning

PS forgot to mention, I will be selecting the tree and the foreground and lightening it up a bit like you have done to get some more definition there.

    Re: Tree planting

    Roger,
I think you got your self a nice spot there and I like your photo though I think it's a tad too busy. How about just concentrating on the posts and the great perspective they create? I think taking out the tree on the left all together (provided that you can find a nice angle to shoot the posts and the background without the tree) would actually improve on this shot big time IMO.

Roger, I love this photo. I think the colors are wonderful, and I love the repetition.

Your second pic, the b&w, I like also, but I want to see a bit more of the posts on right...they fade a little too quickly...but a lovely picture, nonetheless.

    Re: Tree planting

Roger, your color shot is better than the black & white one, IMO. This is one of those shots that you can play with over and over, and each time get a different perspective.
