    Tree Man

This one was captured earlier today, my father owns his own Arborist Company, and he was doing some work at home.

    Re: Tree Man

F-15, don't take this as me trying to be mean, but this photo just doesn't work for me. I see this shot as a guy in the yard cutting some wood. And that's it. He's not mid-swing with a look of concentration on his face; he's not resting looking exhausted with a huge pule of lumber behind him; he's just leaning over doing something mundane and it's unfortunately boring for me to look at. Now on a positive note, the composition is nice and there is a lot of variation in tonality. So you've got some nice technical aspects to this shot, but unless I'm TOTALLY missing the mark by assuming that this is a candid, you've missed the defining moment... the most important part.
So I just had to make peace with this critique and I hope you don't take offense. I've seen and enjoyed many of your other shots. The thing is, street photography is HARD, and you don't see me posting any of my street shots here for a very good reason! I'm hoping the point I'm making clear is that a shot can have all sorts of nice technical qualities but still fails if it misses the point of the story. How many of Cartier-Bresson's famous works are majorly lacking in their technical merits? Plenty of them. Hell, "Boy Jumping Over a Puddle" isn't even in FOCUS, yet it turned the world of photojournalism upside down in a single moment. So practice up, and don't post again until you're confident that you're as good or better than Cartier-Bresson.

Ok, that last part was a joke. But keep at it, it can only get easier, right...?
    Thanks for sharing!

No offense taken at all. Its why I posted it here, because I'm trying to get better with photography, especially people photography, its something that I'm very weak in and need to work on.

Thanks for being truthful, the last thing I would want was someone coming in and saying "oh yeah thats cool nice job." Cause thats not how it works in the real world. ;)
