Hiya Loooop---as for these pics, the bottom shows excellent closeup work of the veins of the leaf, but I can't say that I'm nuts about the shadow. The top one however, is nicely done. It does seem a tad soft though. Nice texture on the bark----what kind of tree?

I think that second one is terrific. That first tree has some very interesting texture on the trunk but I find the snarl of twiggy branches distracting.

I have a preference towards the first one. It has some nice lighting, texture and colors.

As for the second one, it just kind of looks a bit.. flat.. to me. That's the only way I can think of to describe it.

I love the second one by a long shot. The first one looks a bit too busy. The second one should be on a glossy magazine. So well composed with the silhouette.

    Cheers

This is great! Split evenly between the two

John and Method X, as for the type of tree, your guess is as good as mine. As with most things I photograph, I seldom know the species unfortunately. Lighting was good that day and I shot this with a 135mm from a slight hill so that I could get a good, flat DOF. You're right, the image is not as sharp as I would have liked.

Chunk and Paul, yes the 2nd image is more my typical type of shot - simple and easy to interpret. Just the opposite problem to the first image. In this the sharpness is good but the subject is not all in the DOF due to the curl. It was shot in natural window light of a plant in our dining room.

    Thanks for the comments!

Interesting shots Loupey. I can see you love the whole texture feel, definately shows through your shots. The shadow IMO makes the second picture...without it, it would be bland and rather boring. The contrast in green definately adds a wonderful shot. The first shot is great with the twigs and leaves, though I have trouble with a concrete subject, though I still love it.

    Great shots.
