    To the Trains

    Hi all

One I took this morning on my very last trip to (guess where!!) - the London Underground.

As before, the whole series can be seen at: http://album2591.fotopic.net/c1367250.html

As always, any comments are appreciated.

    Cheers

    Re: To the Trains

if it were me i just "know" that i would have gotten myself in the mirror reflection thereby ruining the whole shot. of course i wouldn't have discovered it until someone pointed it out to me.

now i am well warned for the future should similar type occasions happen.

of course having spent too many years commuting on the tube, it evokes fond and not so fond memories.

one being in the summer and you nod off, go past your station and try to look so nonchalant when you wake up at the end of the line as if that''s where you intended to be anyway and try to skulk back over to the other side to find a train home without anyone noticing. either that or sit where you are and sheepishly remain until same train goes back the way it came. what's worse is that when the guard come along to wake you up.

Nice use of the mirror and the camera to point to the trains.
And well done for not getting yourself in the mirror.
I find shots like this can be so hard to do without including the photographer.

I feel that the left edge is a little close to the mirror, is there cropping room in the original ?

I like the colors. I don't like the mirror and camera.

    What is busking?
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Re: To the Trains

    Thanks guys

threelions .. never fallen asleep myself, but I've never been a daily commuter heading home after a hard day - it must be common enough.

Paul - thanks. I agree with you about the mirror - here is a version with a little more room. The wall is a little messy - I might clone some of it out when I have time. I think, like you, that the mirror and/or the camera is necessary compositionally.

MB1 - a busker is an entertainer hoping you will throw some coins in his hat. The underground has official busker pitches - it is the unofficial kind they don't like.

This is good Mike. Lots of little things to look at and the colours are compatible. I'm glad the photographers image is not in the mirror but I think it would have been great if some commuters were there.
But it's very good the way it is.

I like the picture and in particular the second one..The mirror and camera give the picture character and help set the context...These types of pictures are some of my favorites and I have found that at least for me; they are tough to capture just right unless your using a tripod, which I seldom use...Good work!

    Re: To the Trains

    Thanks guys again.

Overbeyond - I took a few with commuters in the mirror, but the perspective of the mirror made them very small indeed - in the end I thought the view down the steps was, on balance, slightly better - close call though.

jgredline - unfortunately tripods are not allowed down there for obvious reasons of public safety. All the images I took were at 1/30sec and 800 ISO. Fortunately my camera has image stabilisation so I was able to consistently hand-hold.

    Re: To the Trains

I like the subject and composition but it does seem out of focus under the sign? I can't make up my mind on the camera. Part of my job is installing cameras so I am leaning towards leaving it in.
