    Tracks in the Night

I have been looking at this spot for some time. The elements, lighting, just never seemed right. This isn't exactly what I had in mind, but close. What do you think?

    Re: Tracks in the Night

From an artsy standpoint and just a cool looking photograph, I love it. But you're right, it is missing something, I just can't put my finger on it. Maybe it has to do with how down the tracks it so sharply transitions from light to dark.

    Re: Tracks in the Night

I assume that the train is behind the bright lights in the distance and that it is on the move. I think if it was closer and bigger in the frame then it would help. However that I guess would be dangerous for both yourself and the camera.

On the whole it seems a little bright to me and spoils the mood of the picture.

However even with all that I do like the composition and the photo itself has a lot to commend it.

I love the mood and the composition here. I agree with the other comments about it needing just something more. This would make a great backdrop either way.
good tones and contrast. There is eye candy here, but a bit something more is needed.

I think it needs some graffiti on the wall...do a re-shoot and take a spray can with you ;)

    Re: Tracks in the Night

Dunno, I think I like the desolation of this as it is. Maybe the train could be a little closer (or maybe you could get a friend with a hand-held high power spotlight to *imply* the train is closer). I would guess that the far end of the first dark patch would be about right. As this seems to be an active line, the light should reflect off the rail tops all the way into the foreground from that distance.

    Re: Tracks in the Night

Thanks all. The light in the distant isn't a train. It is a light of some kind. I just enlarged it slightly to make it appear as a train.
