I like. Terrific action shot caught perfectly. I have never seen a dog race so this is quite interesting to me. Nice post.

I like! Great suspension of action. Looks like a wicked thunder storm brewing in the distance. My only problem with this image is a weird spot in the tree line where parts of the trees and some of the light poles appear sharper than anything else around them. Did you fake the DOF with a gaussian blur or is that a temporal vortex or what? It looks a little freaky to me :skep: and detracts from an otherwise fabulous shot.

    BTW
I bet the track would like a copy of this one, vortex or no.

Very good. From your picture, I would be willing to bet this was taken around 4:00pm on a Sunday.

Greyhounds are most beautiful in every way and you have given us a great capture to admire. We can admire each one individually as they are all in different stages of their sprint. It is never easy to get these centre frame as they travel so fast.
My heart goes out to these lovely dogs and I hope they get rewarded for all their hard work just to entertain us and make money for their owners. I hope they have a happy retirement.

    Hi LL,
The action is well taken. I wish the three dogs were more distinguished from each other as their similar colour does not make each of them stand out. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. I did a quick swipe with the "blur" tool in PS Elements, but stopped when I noticed the dirt kicked up in the "vortex" and then went to the other site. It is a bit off, now that you point it out.:blush2:

    Hiya Lava--
Interesting shot of something not often seen here. Thanks for explaining the blur. I also noticed two vertical faint white lines on the horizon. They kind of caught my eye. What are they?

this is a wonderful shot.... I've been trying to master motion the last couple weeks... not always as easy as it looks. I think this is perfect - you must have had one fantastic seat!

I watched in a documentary a couple years back that there is a big problem with the treatment of retired greyhound race dogs. Many of them are killed off simply because they can no longer make money for the owners. The documentary actually showed footage of a man unloading dead greyhounds from his truck into a dumpster.

    Very good, but 8 dogs?
We often have a pile-up at turn 1 with only 6.
When they tried Afghan racing instead of greyhounds it was a disaster !
Had to reduce the field to 4 because they went down in a tangle of legs, paws, and fur at the first corner. Good looking, great in a straight line, but like a corvette stingray they don't do corners.
