Is she doing yoga? Maybe the artist has a funny sense of humor (or watches too many SciFi shows).

I think as a photo to document the statue it works just fine. But as a photograph that tries to communicate or get some sort of emotional response form me as a viewer, I think it falls short.

The subject matter is unique and open to creative interpretation. With exploration of different angles and use of different light (artificial or natural) you could come up with some really intriguing stuff.

Don't be afraid to break the statue up into different photos highlighting different aspect that intrigue you, for example. You were clearly drawn to it, try to make us understand what attracted you. Show us your favorite parts in a way that tries to evoke the emotions you felt when you saw it.

I thought it was Cher after all the plastic surgery :-)

However to me it looks just like a snapshot and does nothing for me really, I'm with Seb on this.

There is a part of the puzzle missing here, as there is also a sculpture of another man shaped to look like the moon. Its a kinda a sun and moon sculpture, but robert had unfortunately left this guy out, which meant the was no story to the image - even though the image is a lovely one at that. Here is the moon guy.... as well as both the sun & moon sculptures.

Hope this sheds some light for you all.

LOL!! I was thinking the same thing. They are very cool. I think greater isolation would have made it a more interesting image. I'm not really good at pinpointing what really might work but things that come to mind are shallower DOF, or even an angle (like coming in from below maybe?). Maybe eveb a different time of day (lower sun). But I can see why it drew you. I just don't think the background was being very cooperative for you.

Went and had a good look at it again and i think it is the expression in the face that i liked so much. Seems she is thinking "whats all the fuss about"
Yes i was on holiday and the place was jammed tight with people, hard to do anything special with so much distractions around.
