Re: Took these with my new cam

Welcome! No fair posting shots of cute babies...

From a technical aspect, some might think the framing of your first three shots is a little tight. Most of the time that doesn't bother me. Some things to watch for future shots is to be careful of cutting off body parts like fingers and heads. Another thing is to be careful of what's in the background.

The most positive aspects of your photos are that your timing was good in capturing great expressions!

Re: Took these with my new cam

First off, welcome to your first posts

Second, of the lot, I would say the first is the best, although as Paula has pointed out, they are somewhat too tight... they could use some breathing room.

I have noticed that typically, with babies we get so focused on their cute-ness and reactions, we seem to forget about the rest of them... as such, them being so fidgety, we tend to snap away making sure the expressions are caught... and you sure caught them here.

From the technical aspect however, cutting off of fingers, or partly the back of the head does not work.

A good way to counter this, is to simply allow more breathing room, and then just crop to your liking... it allows you the freedom the work around the little angel, and then frame calmly in post.

On a personal matter, I dislike the built-in flash (or mount flash)... makes images too white... and well... blah for my taste... I prefer the grain from going as high in ISO as I can (up to 3200 or more now on some other cams) and use available light instead...

Anyway... besides the technical critique, these photos work beautifully on the emotional level... so i guess they work!
