    Together

Hi all .. something I did on a pleasant Easter Sunday afternoon. These were two tulips which were part of the church's Easter flower display. I call this one "Together".

As always, any comments are welcome and appreciated.

    Cheers

plain and simple, yet elegant. I like it. the bend of the right flower is intriguing.

    Re: Together

Thanks Brent for your kind words. I agree with you (and thought of it at the time) that the curves of the flowers can be made to tell a story.

I wasn't entirely happy about the background though ... this is another version with the background lightened somewhat.

    Cheers

    Re: Together

I feel not only is the background lightened but so also are the flowers.
I like these very much and the shapes take on a very tender human form. They are very romantic too.

    Re: Together

Thanks Tom ... I will continue to play with it, to get the right balance. Who would ever have thought a couple of tulips could be so evocative of human emotion?

    Re: Together

I think the second is a bit better but thought the first was beautiful, too.
My amateur eye would never have thought to lighten the background to make it even better so thanks for the lesson.

    Re: Together

take your adjustments on the second one, put it in mask on a layer of the first image, then paint the flowers in, and it will look perfect. The latest post is too saturated for me.

    Re: Together

greg & frog - thank you for having a look - I appreciate your encouragement

Brent - I was thinking of exactly that. I'll play with it tomorrow and post the result.

Has He Lost His Mind - the flowers were very delicate, almost a pastel purple. Your version is just way too bright. Less is more with flowers.

    Thanks guys

    Re: Together

I like the dark tones of the flowers in the first picture as aposed to how they look in the second one. I think that you should try to lasso the flowers out in PS, and only edit the background. You can feather them a bit so it blends in better.

    Re: Together

jspot thanks for looking too ... I agree that the dark tones of the first flowers are best.

Hence, just as Brent suggested, I did a layered version to make the background much lighter while keeping the first flowers. I have also flipped it - it looks "edgier" to me, somehow. I attach the new version. I now call it "Seduction" What do you think?

    Cheers

    Re: Together

That one is better, I like how the flower on the right slopes with the right side. Well done.

    Re: Together

that is very good. It's much better than all the previous versions. It looks as if they are dancing and the female (the one on the left) is leaning backwards from the male (on right)
that's lunging forward looking into her eyes. The leaves even give the illusion of arms, and exactly where they might be if the dancers were really there.
Great job. Love the flowers and the background.

Beautiful shot Mike, shots like that make me wish I could see color. I like the edit with the white BG. Looks like a high key beauty shot.
