    Re: Tiki Statue - Holga...

    Holga!!

Is Holga to cropping the same as Baseball to crying? or is there such a thing as cropping in Holga shots?

I was gonna say the right is way too bright maybe a crop is in order but it's a holga!

Not to mention the weirdness of holga shots for me. They usually leave me speachless.
I really don't know where to go with this one also. Another steep learning curve for me, me thinks.

Maybe you can share what a perfect holga shot looks like? ;) I'd love to see it and begin to understand it atleast.

I don't understand them at all. There I said it.

P.S. I remember a while back asking what is a holga? I think you gave me a link and I read about them IIRC. I know what they are now. But I still don't understand what the perfect shot or a great shot would look like. They all look so damn similar!

I agree with Leels. I don't understand holga shots either. To me they're just good photos spoiled by a crap camera.

    Could someone please explain?

The perfect "Holga Photo" is one that isn't perfect! That's It! Holga/toy camera photographs are about ramdomness and serendipity.
I am not one to crop any of my photographs, Holga or not, I would rather shoot it that way than crop it afterwards.
Perhaps this link, http://www.toycamera.com/about.cfm, might help you out some too..

    Thanks for commenting!

Wow, the light leak really adds quite an impact!
Black and white, eh? Have we switched preferences here? (me to color, you to B&W)

I agree with Brian. Not being able to find a holga here, and being impatient, I bought a different brand of toy camera hoping for the same effect. I love it, and for me the thing about them is the degraded look and spontaneous results given. It's one of those things, oyu love it, or hate it. Megan and Brian are masters! I need to take mine out more.

Oh yeah, very nice shots from hawaii, all of them. I love the one at the beach in viewfinder. The palm tree is in my top 5 from you. NOTHING can ever beat the one with the sprocket holes though ( yeah, I still remember that one) it had a real impact on me.

Oh thanks! But I assure you I'm a perpetual student.

What toy camera did you end up getting? Just curious! I have a little collection of old and toy cameras.

It is an Ouyama 2000H. It isn't listed anyewhere though, not even their website. If you look on ebay and see the "pro" camera kits for like $50 it is the same thing basically.
