    Hello Roger
I see what you are after here but I honestly feel that the selective colouring does not work here. It simply makes the boat look pasted on to the background. Would like to see the shot before you changed it.

    Tom,

Now that you said it I can see what you mean. Here is the original.

Have you tried cropping just below the houses and a little from behind the boat to pull the cabin off center? As it is, I like the color version, but the houses distract me. If you want to go with selective color, just desaturate the color a bit, and possibly leave the reflection in color too.

I really like the concept Rog, but agree with Payn that you should include the color in the reflection of the boat too. I think it would really add a punch and and underline your intent literally although it will be more technically difficult to achieve a smooth mask on the ripples I think the result would be worth it.

YES!!! I really like it now! Nice job with the mask, there are a few ripples of blue but why wear yourself out on the web sized version when it's the full size that will reward your effort. Nice, nice, nice work Roger!!

    CL

I agree its so much better than the initial post. I will now work on the original and do it properly and then print.

Payn, I deliberately centred the boat for this take as I had intended it for selective colour and thought it would work better. For the colour shot I totally agree and would have taken a different picture, without the house - yep big house.

    Thanks to all who responded.

    Re: Tide's out

Roger - I like the last one you posted the best of all. The only thing that bothers me is the composition, where the picture is pretty much split in half by the ship and wall. Otherwise, a very interesting use of spot color. I wonder if this was a goof up by the crew or if it was planned like this?

Much nicer with the red reflection.
I was going to point it out but it seemed an almost unianimous suggestion.

Roger, I have to say that the addition of color in the reflection actually is a marked improvement than either of the first two versions.

    Re: Tide's out

Roger very attractive image. Absolutely the version with the color reflection is best, but i do think you should slightly lower the saturation of the boat and for the reflection. should look to be a fine print.
