    Tidal Basin Sunset.

The storm blew out of town yesterday morning, by the late afternoon it was warm for the first time in a week and the ice was starting to melt. The puddles on the sidewalk and the very placid Tidal Basin made for great reflections of the first nice sunset in quite a while.

This is pretty much what I saw.

    Re: Tidal Basin Sunset.

    Nicely done MB1.

1: This shot could've worked better if the 2nd bar (from the bottom) wasn't there. I don't mind the top 2 that much but the the 3rd takes too much from the shore line and reflections.

2: Very effective. I like your composition here. Although the tree branches on the left are also kinda distracting, I wish they weren't there. Maybe you can cropp them out along with a bit of the top to get rid of those twigs as well.

3: The strongest one. I'd crop a bit from the bottom. I love the colours here and your skies are gorgeous.

    Good job.

    Edit: I meant 2nd bar not 1st!

I agree with Liban, number three is very strong. I personally might have kept the shutter open a tad more, but I think it works. Well done.

    Beautiful colors,

MB.....The top shot I don't like so much, mainly because of the 'grillwork' of the window.
The middle one is nicely done, and the contrails make it an interesting shot. The bottom seems to have a verticle 'line' (I'm guessing a contrail?) which, to me, takes my attention away from the rest of the shot. Great looking sky though.

My favorite is the second. I can't believe I'm saying it, but I like the muted quietness of the image. You see the monument, you see dock. All else is nice but not competing with those two objects. And I really like that branch creeping in from the left. While I like them all, the first one's "bars" keep interfering with my view. And on the bottom one the reflection, clouds and color/contrast are SO strong, that I find them competing for my attention.

    Re: Tidal Basin Sunset.

MB1, I agree the first shot is hurt by the bars/grill in the view. It does not add but rather detracts and gives a busy feel. The second one is my favorite for the lighting and mood, but the composition is not feeling just right for me. I do not like how the dock/contrail? is coming into the scene. It somehow feels in the way. Either more of it included somehow or none at all. I think I need to see where it came from to feel good about it in the shot like this. The last one is very dramatic, but I think there is too much of either sky or water. As D stated, they are competing for attention, and also the horizon line is too close to center for me. I would crop off from the bottom to eliminate some of the water and bring the horizon down. The lighting and scenery, quality of the images are very good.
