    Through The Back Kitchen Door

I've taken a bit of a shine to this one myself so would be more than interested to hear your thoughts on it.

Re: Through The Back Kitchen Door

Interesting shot and very unique subjects.

First, the door handle on the left is somewhat of a nuisance for me. The overblown sky doesn't help this, but it does draw my eye to the horse, so it does help in that sense. Also, there is a handle (?) near the top right that also distracts from this shot. This shot is tooooootally random but I love it nonetheless!

    Great shot.

I don't like it, I'm turned of by the condition of the kitchen..... I find the shy over exposed. I do like the idea.

Re: Through The Back Kitchen Door

Tom, this is a very interesting concept and composition and i commend you for stepping out of the box, so to speak, in some of your latest works. My initial thought on this was that this should have been a vertical compose, but, there is something so random and spontaneous here and deliberate, that I'm feeling more comfortable with it in a short time. An image like this will be either loved or hated, but I feel this work may seperate you from the crowd, in a good way. btw, the condition of the kitchen works for me in this, although I don't keep my own like this

Re: Through The Back Kitchen Door

Jared: Thanks for you comments and I have to say that red utensil handle should have bee cloned out. The door handle for me is a must in this one. The little things like the Holy Water font inside the door and the anarchy of the table appealed to me.
You are a great forum member Jared; you seem to manage to get around to every post to critique.
Freygr: This image is not for everyone I'm sure. There was a blanket white/grey sky all that day which was a bit of a pity. The state of the kitchen is what it is all about to an extent. This is a derelict house but with very interesting remains within and I will post some more soon. Thanks for you comments.
Gary: When I found this house and trespassed through it I was like a young boy on Christmas morning. It is a treasure chest of "photographable" memories. As I carefully rambled around, memories of Seb's visit to the old factory and your Views from Within shots were often recalled. I took all the shots very quickly before I was caught out and indeed some shots were taken in almost total darkness using the camera's own flash.
I have a feeling you and Seb would have been very much at home here and I try to imagine what approaches you would have come up with. I'm very happy you like this image.
BTW You mean you don't tidy up your kitchen then?

    Tom,

I sort of agree about the handle but I would have like to see just a bit more door to make it deliberate, it just seems to be either an afterthought or not seen as it stands.

However saying that i like the concept and look forward to seeing more
