Thoughts of Venice in the rain

Taken while waiting for the rain to stop, on a small canal in Ft Lauderdale yesterday.

I think it would be more effective by cropping out some of the bottom, the water beneath the boat's shadow is distracting.

A quick recrop....Is this working any better? (other than the fact that it now looks oversharpened a bit)

I think just cropping some off of the bottom, most of it below the hull, would have worked. Leave the space in front of the boat. Also clone the blue thing in the flowers out. I like it.

Yeah I definitely think that's better. I did a quick crop, it may be better if you have more photo for sticking in more flowers and more of the front of the boat... I also did a contrast mask and then painted out the boat to keep from making the rain disappear

Well since a pictur is worth a thousand words, here is the overall scene...

...not a lot of latitude for adding more boat without intrducing a bunch of unsightly crap on the dock, and since I was up on a sort of concrete balcony, no real room to play the angles either.

Actually just starting to wonder if I'm trying too hard to "force a fit" with this one

could be, the original one you posted doesn't do a lot for me and if anything... the main photo is a little bit busy but i think there's potential for the couple on the bridge? the umbrella covering the man's face kinda sucks

I agree with the original with a slight crop from the bottom. this sorta shot appeals to me. The rain adds to it. It almost has a scratchy rustic feel to it.
