    Thought Controlled

    Hi all,

Just got back from a trip. Lot's of nice new images here. Sorry that I haven't commented on them. Will start doing this again.

Over the past years, I've been shooting kids watching TV. I have not yet been able to put my impressions into an image... until this recent trip (I think). This was shot with available light, 1/8 sec, ISO 1600, with a tripod. The kids didn't even notice my efforts.

I thank you in advance for your comments...
    BR,
    Tim

Isnt it nice when they are all so quite and not fighting though? ;) Just kidding. I get your point.
Great shot. I like that you've been able to capture such a moment. The kicking the feet up on the coffee table really adds to this shot... as does the reflection of the tv behind them. I am undecided about the reflection of the person however. My nitpick--- whatever is reflected above the middle boys head is a bit distracting. Otherwise I think its a great shot... and definitely a series to think about and then perhaps lobby about !

Wonderful image. Love the way you captured the moment. This photograph tell a story that every parent knows. I've seen my children in days gone by mesmerized by something on the tube. Great the way you captured them and the program in the reflection. The whole image has kind of a sureal feel to it. Very nice job.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Nice shot, and you can even see your reflection in the window! I love this shot, the expressions they give are priceless. Very nice shot.

    Re: Thought Controlled

Thanks for the generous comments all. The hard thing (for me) about trying to shoot kids & TV's is that one has to go way wide to get both the TV and kids -- and then neither are captured well. Thus, I was quite excited when I looked in the room and saw the great reflection. I ran out to the car to get the tripod because I knew I couldn't hand-hold the camera in that light. I grabbed a few good captures before the room got disrupted. At first, I wanted a bright TV image to help light the room, but after the fact I found that eerie cartoon figure that just seems to work. (For me, it's amazing how much I depend on a bit of luck to get something somewhat intriguing.)

Also VDC, I totally agree with you. To really work this image, I should remove all extraneous window reflections. FWIW, that other adult in the image is one of the parents who was chuckling away. I don't think I'm in it (too far to the right). But, I think I see a part of my tripod in the lower window right..... .... But then, I have no idea what is causing that small reflection above right the cartoon guy. Hmmmmm?????

    Thanks again,
    Tim
