Theresa in the spotlight [pic attached]

I shot this last week when I was walking around downtown. We stopped under a spotlight in the mall and quickly got this one.

Ooooh McMad Cow! This is sooo sweet!!!! Yummy!!! The stairwell behind her is just so perfect as a soft focus background, love the way it twists behind her head. I was just thinking about you today and about how you make your portraits so much more than just "pretty girl" shots (which is easy). Nice, nice nice! Beautiful drama, fabulous focus, dead on DOF. MtbBrian ~ sticky this please!

    Cheers!

Very nice shot McMadCow! I think her looking up is strengthened by the stairs behind her. Love the tones and composition of this as well. Very well done overall!

Actually, this photo is weakened by a distracting background and very poor lighting in several areas of the face and hair. Now, McMadd, did you set out to produce a weak photo intentionally, this time? (as you have indicated previously)

I love the shot. The background works for me - the light area on the right sort of leads me into the light part of her face, and then continues to the left with the stairs. I love the 'mystery look' as well.

I love it, the crop is perfect with the extra head room.

Wow, this one sort of came back from the dead.
thanks for all the comments so far. I did point her so that the spiral staircase was behind her like that. I can see how that could be distracting for sure. It works for me which is why I shared it, but I'm hardly an authority on photographic excellence. Yes, the lighting on her face was intentional... this was quick stop underneath a small light at the mall on our way to a different shooting location. I saw it and decided to take a quick chance at a shot.

Oh hey, look at that! Finally made an addition to my ignore list.
