I like it other than lassie on left being too close to border. Maybe a bit of crop on right will even it up a bit. Just an opinion.

    Tom,

However you did it, especially from the distance you were from the subjects, you eliminated the shadows from their faces as they are wearing hats. Colors are great, you seem to have the exposier right on. The distance between them is kinda disconcerting but not terribly. Nice expressions, good story here.

    I like it.

Personally i think the expression of left lassie justifies the distance between them...(i'm guessing that is why you placed her there)... But i agree with Frog, that probably a little crop from the right would give it more of an "on purpose" feel....

I like the colors, expressions and everything else really....

    Nice shot!

    Hi Tom,
There are many interesting elements in this shot. The differences between the subjects on the right and on the left (expression, colour of the socks..) lead the viewers to study the photo more thoroughtly. The crisp colours also make the shot very refreshing. Nice job!

I agree with the comments about the expression of the "sister"on the left and her distance from the other two. fits well and effectively. I too think the overall crop is a bit tight, but that is the only thing I might change to further improve this already very good image.

Thanks so much to everyone for your comments on this shot. I too like the distance between the grumpy old lady on the left. Maybe the others are a bit fed up with her.
I agree it is a bit tight though.

Re: And There's Three Lovely Lassies From ....

The details, colors and repetition of their outfits - all add interest to the image. I, too, wish there was a little more space on the left but cropping the right wouldn't necessarily solve the problem. A simple clone job using the small amount of bench and surroundings around her to add a smidgen on the left side might do the trick...

Ever since I saw this image (which I like very much with the caveat already expressed about the crop) I have been wondering what national costume that is?

    Thanks Tuna and Mike
The clothing is that of the Naxi; ethnic minority tribe in south western China. The shot was taken (made LOL) in the town of Lijiang in Yunnan Province earlier this year.
