    There's always one.

Which is a lot better than hundreds,or even thousands.

He appeared while I was working on getting some softer views of my favorite flowers...

Should I leave him,or clone him out of existence ?

I like the texture of the second shot best....you're flowers have improved drastically.
As for the ant in the first.....save it, too.

Noise filtered the ant the same way as the others..and took a bit of the color cast (? ) out-starting to like him !

I also think the bug should stay
On the second set, I prefer the definition of the first shot, although they both work well.

I like them both and agree with Frog. Your flower shots are great.

    Hi,
I like the hilarious effect with the ant. It seems to be an "incredibly shrinking ant" to me. Thanks for sharing.

    Re: There's always one.

I like #s 2 and 4 best, but each take is great. The lighting is amazing; the ant, priceless.

Even though the subject matter itself is completely different, the textures in these shots somehow remind me of Carin Ingalsbe's work, which I adore.

Have a great New Year, susaan. And everyone else here, as well.

-Decided I like the last edit,best,-its hard to see after looking at dozens of similar photos,
    so really appreciate the input.

I know you've already decided but I just wanted to say that I think this photo is excellent! I think removing the ant would have been a mistake, that it definitely adds a different tone to the photo. Love the warm, soft feeling it gives, too.

    Re: There's always one.

    Thanks,
Hexnut-its a peach colored Hibiscus, seen all over Jakarta-featured in art and textiles nationally, might be considered the national flower, but Malaysia beat us to that.:mad2:
-Our blooms are more textured than those shot by Jetrim, due to draught and harsh sun.

Snoopydance,I was aiming for a sensuous soft inside image, then spotted how the light came thro' at a certain angle, making it look a little like extravagant fabric, perhaps what draymorton saw,and decided to go for that.

I'm experimenting with noise reduction software at present,so most likely over-doing everything until I get the hang of it....

    Wonder what GB1 thinks..not too sharp ?? :blush2:

Ants are a pest,I;m allergic-so this pays me back for the hours of scubbin n scratching that follow outdoor shoots.

    Re: There's always one.

    Susann,

I don't know about the ant.. not being a big fan of insects or such I guess I would clone, but that depends on what you plan on using the image for.

I don't think it's too sharp or anything, but what I might do is to rotate the cloned image CCW by 90 degrees. I think it will be a stronger image like that.

Take this all w/ a grain of salt because I'm definitely not a flower expert!

    Re: There's always one.

I agree, if you make the ant the subject, and the flower the background - then you're putting the ant on a journey through the scenery.
In which case I think this places the ant too near the vertical centre maybe?
