    Thaw

This probably doesn't look as good to people who don't mind winter but it sure looks good to me.

I like the shot you have here Chunk, and I really love that everything is melting!!! It's making things pretty sloppy around here, but it's a sign of good things to come. I checked out that little creek by Pendarvis today. The one where I shot all of those little water falls last fall. The creek has turned into a raging river of muddy water. See for yourself...

That's quite a difference Mike. Take your collored lights down there and give it a shot while it's like this.

That's a good idea Chunk, only I don't have any colored lights. The colors that I got out of my other shots was done with a levels adjustment. I might just give it another try just for kicks tho. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Cool shot Chunk,
Was it possible to walk over to the right some such that you could get the red barn completely in the reflection?

Thanks for looking and commenting. Yeah, I've got some like that. I'll post one tonight. I chose this one because I thought it showed the flow of water out of the field better and has more diagonal furrows.

    Hallo Chunk ,

It also look great to me , although i do not like the winter times !
But i could not really complain for it does not get so cold here as by you !
I would have cropped alittle on the bottom .
But that does not bother me so much .
    Great photo .
    Regards

This shot was taken from a driveway about three times as far away from the farm as the previous shot. As you can see, there was a bit too much mud to be able to get this angle any closer.

I see. The first shot does do a nice job of showing the "Thaw"...

Thanks for looking and for the remarks, James. If I get my house sold, This may be the last winter I spend in the cold.

Hey Chunk, I think I like your second shot better. For me is places more importance on the flooded field, and less on the buildings. I also like the reflection in the second shot better.

Where are you planning on moving to?

    Re: Hey Oldschool

Chunk, I definetely like that second shot better. It has a icy feel to it as the smooth reflections on the water and I like the patterns of muddy muck leading up into the frame. And although the ice is not as evident, it still feels like thawing out and some warmer times on the way.

    Thanks for the feedback.
I'll probably end up in Arizona during the winter months and hope to travel around some during the warmer times. There's a lot of this country I need to see before my back gives out completely. I'll be a poor man in my retirement, so it will all have to be done cheaply.

    Re: Hey Oldschool

Gary, thanks for giving me your thoughts, I value them. I think I'll run a curves adjustment on the first one and print them both.
This time of the year has always been 'Muddy March' in my mind. While growing up I kinda enjoyed keeping the meltwater flowing through the farmyard and minimizing the amount of mud we had to contend with. I'm sure those miniature
'engineering' projects taught me lessons I've used all my life, but now it seems to have all boiled down to "get the hell outa Dodge" when it's messy like this.

Thanks, Tim. I think the shot you recommended is a stronger shot compositionally.
