That's One Small Step for (Wo)man

From the San Diego County Fair. I don't know if she jumped or was pushed but she screamed all the way down.

Try setting the levels to get rid of the misty look. See tha attachment where I used Gimp.

Wow, you are considerably advanced. I have no idea what you did or what Gimp is, but I better find out. I guess that is the purpose of the web site. Thanks for the tips.

Re: That's One Small Step for (Wo)man

“The GIMP” is a free GNU Image Manipulation Program originally written for X Windows and later modified to run under XP.
The Official site is www.gimp.org/ but does not have a user friendly XP install version. It does how ever have tutorials and help information. You can download a friendly install version that runs under Microsoft from gimp-win.sourceforge.net/
The screen dump I posted was GIMP run under Linux Fodora. I found the best way to learn GIMP was through fiddling and then later working through the tutorial. You may find it a little frustrating at first as it has a layered command structure. That is, the simple commands are in the main pull down menu and the more complex command are berried in submenu. For example to rotate an image by 90 degrees “Image -> transform”. But to straighten an image by a few degrees is “Tools -> transform tool -> rotate”. The level can be corrected by several means; “layers->colors-> levels->auto”,layers->colors->levels” manual adjust,”layers->colours-> curves” as shown in the post.
I hope this has been of some help. By the way I am by no means an expert GIMP or any other image manipulation program.
    Have fun

    Frans,

Thanks very much for the great information. I struggle with Photoshop and can't say I really have a handle on that. But, it is all for fun so I keep plugging away. Thanks again.

I've been using GIMP a lot lately. it's a really great program, easy to use IMO and really similar to PS. plus, it's free!!

interesting pic, I wish you could have zoomed in a bit more on her face. i'm sure her expression would have been priceless, lol.

Thanks for the comments. I may have to down load GIMP and take a look. Digital photography is new to me so the manipulation via software is too. Thanks again.
