    Re: Thank You Come Again

I think you could get rid of the "Yield" sign.

At first I thought you meant the sign on the door. I had to edit this post when I re-read what you wrote.

I love the sign on the door!

Great catch! You couldn't make this one up!

I really don't know if I would change or edit anything but the yield sign.

Initially I would have said it doesn't matter, but seeing the edit the sign goes, nice catch.

Thanks Armmando, thanks Pete, I agree. I thought I liked the sign but once cloned I think I like it without.

Sign gone- good. Is there anyway to brighten the door area just a skitch without ruining the feel?

ptax yes I can lightly dodge the door. I'll give it a go. I thought leaving it a little on the dark side would add some mystery.

    I like the original exposure

Even at this abandoned building by the patched road, the sun will come up and yes the occasional vehicle driving by must yield.

    Re: Thank You Come Again

I like the capture better without the yield sign. Some feel a need to honor the original scene. If you are producing something for a competition or something that otherwise has rules mandating that kind of thing, that’s an issue to be dealt addressed. But other than for that kind of circumstance do what helps the image the most and don’t worry about fidelity to typically pointless “rules.”

Were this mine, I’d lighten the sign on the door a bit, but not the door itself. Also there appears to be a smudge or something in the sky area above the door.

Thanks Justin, I'll smooth out the smudge. I did dodge the door slightly after this post. It seems no matter what monitor I use my pictures are some what dark to others. I edited this on my Toshiba laptop. The only thing\machine it looks dark on is my Android phone.

Nice! I love this shot. Leaves you wondering what life was like in this spot when it was actually being used. Seeing it in this way shows a nice sense of time progression.

Great shot. Very real light in the image, this does not look like a photoshop boosted this or that, hdr or whatever lol. Very natural looking light with a very interesting subject. Sorry I've got no ideas for improvement.

I like it. I agree on the Yield sign needing to go and a little more light on the door sign would be nice, but as-is it's a very engaging image. Nice work!

    Re: Thank You Come Again

nice shot and love the sign and open door, but i'd have gone with darker sky as the mood of the sky conflicts the sign and door etc. It's happy vs derelict, and it's just my personal taste, but i'd go with one mood or the other.

    Re: Thank You Come Again

    Hi Greg,

As a film fiend, just now switching over to digital, who believed that "what it is" is "what it is", my first thought was why?, the sign is part of the scene. But after seeing the second version I thought, WOW!, just a little sign mades a lot of distraction. Great shot and I would not change anything else.

    Re: Thank You Come Again

I actually love the contrast between the "happy" sunrise/set and the "unhappy" rest of the image. Goes to show that the rest of the world goes on no matter what. The sun shines on the just and unjust alike, right? The yield sign did need to go and it is a huge improvement. I would like to see what it looks like with the door ever so slightly brightened just to see where it takes the image. But ultimately, I love the second take on it. Good eye!
