    Tank the BCI

Hey all, just getting started with dslr and this was one of the first shots I took. Looking for any and all criticism. Taken with Nikon D3000 ISO 800 focal length 55mm f/5.6 shutter speed 110. Thanx

    Welcome.

My first thought was that it would be a better photo without the hand. The hand makes it a photo of a pet, captive snake. If you could find a way to get the snake only, it becomes a wild thing in the viewers mind -- at least a little bit -- and the photo becomes stonger and more about the snake as just a snake.

Hoep my midnight ramblings help. Again, welcome. Hope you post more.

Now that you pointed that out I totally agree. Was trying to shoot with one hand and hold her with the other. I might take out one of the bigger ones and get shots of just the snake, this one is too small and fast yet to roam free lol. Thanks again for the imput

Nah, head is always good. The best thing this shot has going for it is the eye. With a subject so slow and easy to placate, you should be able to get some really cool shots.

    I think I need a snake.
