    Take Off

Here is another image of a bee and crocus. I posted a couple of others over on VF last week. Here is one for you guys to have a go at. Interested in what you feel are the main elements that need improving here. D70 with the 105mm at 1/200th and f9 hand held at ISO 200 around noon last Friday.

Tough one. I would have an hard time critiquing this. The colours are top, so is the sharpness. I think that you would have a better image without the part of petal showing in the lower right part of the frame. Also, I guess that the lighting could be a tad (I insist on a tad) softer.

Overall, this is a pleasing shot. Good work with the 200mm.

Just from memory around 12 to 18 inches away. This is around a 50% crop of the original image.

Yep you are right on the distracting petal I started to clone it out and than didn't for some reason. If my PS techniques were better I would have. Thanks for the comments Seb, they are always appreciated.

    Hello Old Timer,

I can see residual traces of the cloned out petal. That being said, I do think that the retouched picture is more effective than your original. Cloning out stuff isn't easy at all, I most likely couldn't do any better than you did here.

    regards

Nice photo. It's sharp and colorful. I have to agree about the lower petal, I like it better without it. I love the clarity of the bee.

Very crisp, and great shot. Love the colors, everybody else pretty much touched on all the stuff I would say!

    Nice shooting,

I'll agree with Seb on the petal, it's a bit distracting, but not too bad. The bee is extremely sharp, and the colors are fantastic. I can't help but wonder, though, if you had used f11 @ 1/100, if the left edge of the crocus would have come in a bit sharper. Of course, with the slower speed, you may not have been able to freeze the motion of the bee. It's always something, ain't it?
