    Table Top Mountain

I'm kind of lost for words. My Canon EOS 550D arrived today and after going out and firing off a few shots and messing with the setting and all ... I've uploaded this as the pick of the day. Whilst there is room for improvement ... I have to say I'm impressed with this little camera and now feel confident and inspired to keep learning.

Nice idea, but with shots like these, you really need great light, and that's lacking in the shot at present.
Please have a look and leave a comment or three...

Seeing as I took a few shots...I chose another that was not metered down as much and touched up a little. Is this getting a little closer to what you mean?

    Dave,
Very Interesting landscape , actually I like the first version better

by good light, I would understand shooting close to sunrise or sunset instead of near noon.

keep on shooting and showing us your images !!
I love seeing places from around the world

    Re: Table Top Mountain

Thank You armando_m. It's hard to find an even ground for all likes I guess ... If only
I am very thankful for all the advice I can get.
I'll stick with the new version for now. I just got a pro account on Flickr and hope the following link will give a Full Screen Preview so that you can see the small roads and more detail in general.
There is a dirt road that runs (on the left side) along the well lit green paddock that pulls up into a circular dead end. Almost opposite the end of the green field. Table top side on the left. Often I would either drive or walk there to begin the trek up Tabletop mountain. First is a track that takes you over the first hump. Unfortunately my perspective does not show it well, however you look hard enough you will see a treeless patch on the left side of the hump. Once you make it over that, you trek on down and through some bushy part coming out to a track just visible heading again on the upper left into the Loose Granite Patch which is quite obviously pictured below the platue itself. The main track there keeps going up to the left, where you have to climb like a bear, or up a ladder. Once up the top...well its feels very ingratiating as the wind provides you with all the fresh air you'll be needing.

I'll take my camera up in the coming weeks and do a shoot if you like

On the right side of the photo ... over the hill on the left ... that is the hill with the road going up it ... Is a little community called Flag Stone Creek. I lived there when I first moved to Toowoomba and did a lot of farm work.

Once again Thank you for your encouragement ... I hope to show much of the area ... creeks, walking track and the like ... perhaps some of the township as well ... my highlights that is.
