    Swan

    Hi guys,

I took this on a morning walk along the river. Any Ideas? I like it because I kind of managed to catch the look of the swan....

    Thanks to everyone.

Beautiful , the contrast is great

the focus seems a bit off, and the body may be a bit overexposed

I love the dark water, the reflections and the bright white body of the swan.

I wish the bird wasn't so centered in the frame.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Re: Swan

I found swans to be one of the most difficult subjects to catch ever, ever. shady areas produce too much dark tones, bright areas blow the white feathers to hi-tone heck. Theres also the matter of what tones the lens and camera body can reproduce WITH your super fine picky tuning. I've only found successful swan shooting during a bright partly cloudy day.

The swan here looks sort of ordinary, not a decent position, the feathers are a bit blown, the water looks very dark.

Hes just swimming forward, can't see his eyes either.

Sorry but when it comes to shooting swan, they are so frequently done that anything new needs to be very unique, and exposure needs to be excellent. Whilst you managed a reasonably decent exposure, all in all it looks like an ordinary swan shot. Id go back when the daylight is a little more on your side, and maybe pick a more excited swan, one that will do some posing for you. The very bright white swan gives you very little exposure leverage, so needs to be spot on.,
