    Suppertime!

    Makes you wonder about how the people left. Did they just decide to leave the town, did they all pass on? What happened to them?

    As far as I know, everything is just how the owners left it 50+ years ago

    i think its a cool looking picture. i like the color and simplicity of the picture. The only thing i probably have a problem with is the shadow from the cabinent, its kinda distracting. I don't think its your fault, because you left it how it was 50+ years ago. Great photo.
    Lightroom is my Darkroom...Hahaa.

    Re: Suppertime!

    Nice photo. Very simple but has nice composition, color, shading. Would be nice of the cabinet shadow wasn't there but perhaps it adds to the intrigue a bit. Speaking of, where did you find a place that has not been touched in 50 years?

    Look up Bodie, CA if you're ever near Yosemite. Its an old ghost town that is now protected. Its a really cool place

    Re: Suppertime!

    Jorge - Yep, sure looks like Bodie. The photo is a good capture of what is left. Seems like it's the right time of the day for suppertime too.

    Re where they all went, got this off the internet:

    "The boom was over in four short years and by 1882, Bodie was in the grips of decline. The rich mines were playing out and mining companies were going bankrupt. Two fires, one in 1892 and the other in 1932, ravaged the business district. Bodie faded into a ghost town during the 1940's. It became a State Historic Park in 1962, managed in a state of arrested decay. Today, with less than 10% of the town still standing, it is still the largest ghost town in the western United States, and what is left looks much the same as it did over 50 years ago when the last residents left."

    wow... i love the lighting and the shadows, good job

    All that is gold does not glitter,
    Not all those who wander are lost;
    The old that is strong does not wither,
    Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
    From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
    A light from the shadows shall spring;
    Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
    The crownless again shall be king.

    Re: Suppertime!

    Using Photoshop and curves, I would lighten the shadow in the cabinet to get more detail out of that area of your photo. The colours however are perfect, with a most definite NO to black and white.

    Re: Suppertime!

    Well I broke my wide angle a year ago and haven't had the $$ to replace it, so it was taken with a 28-70 @ 28mm.

    My b-day is coming up in 2 weeks, and a WA lens is on my list.
