    Sunset Silhouette

This was taken at Sunset Beach in Cape May, NJ early October. Please comment on how it could have been improved. Thanks! Anna P.

Nice colors and composition. It could use some room at the top, if you cropped it.

Thanks Greg. Actually this was not cropped from the top so no room for improvement there. But I do appreciate the critique. I'll keep that in mind next opportunitiy.

Well framed. Though I would agree with Greg a little extra sky might balance things a hair.

Can't add sky now but perhaps cropping a small bit of the foreground? Seems to make sense in my minds eye at least...

Actually...I bet it wouldn't be too hard to add some sky with a little photoshop know how.
My critique would be that it appears to be very soft. I would guess that the af had a hard time with grabbing onto the backlit subject.

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

    Pete,

By all means, please edit to your hearts content. I'd be very anxious to see what could be done with this. To me it's all a learning experience. Thanks!

    Re: Sunset Silhouette

Here is my edit, I extended the area above his head as suggested, cropped a bit of the foreground, shifted the horizon down away from the center of the image, popped the colours a bit and sharpened. I may have overcooked the sharpening a bit but thats a matter of personal taste.....

Definitely overcooked sharpening sry, reviewing it the edges need to be softened a pixel or two.

    Re: Sunset Silhouette

Thanks Pete for your rendition. I must say you did a fabulous job! The things you can do to improve a photo in digital photography is just amazing. I really like how you added more sky at the top and also by lowering the horizon. I do agree though that it is a tad oversharpened for my taste. I am not very good at photoshop yet but am learning something new every day. Thanks again!

its a nice attempt, but the model is a little to full in the frame for me, so maybe try again and back of a touch. nice colours and light, but very noisy shot so maybe a touch more PP or lower ISO.

    Re: Sunset Silhouette

Baldemort, I did have a similar photo where the subject was much further away. Is this closer to what you were suggesting?
