    Sunset over Huntington

My first attempt at HDR, I really like this one. I have about four more from today/ yesterday, and hope you guys like them.

You certainly did a good job of not going the oversaturation route of most HDRs. If you have the software you might try doing a 'tilt-shift' correction to get the buildings straight up and down. - TF

Please straighten the buildings and try to recover more of the sky area where the sun has blown out so many details. Otherwise, your composition is well balanced and pleasing. I am anxious to see more of your work!

That building on the right edge of the frame adds nothing to the image.

    Crop, crop, crop.
    No, I DON'T need that.

This is another one of the shots I took. It's darker, and I don't like it as much, but the HDR looks better I think.

Nice to try HDR but a lot of times the image can benefit substantially better from a manual blend and I think this may be the case here. In the first image your highlights are way blown out and that overall muddy soft feel HDR can leave. Always good to experiment and find out what works best.

    Re: Sunset over Huntington

Thanks guys. I went out again and shot some more this evening, and I haven't gotten to developing/editing them yet, but will probably start a new thread with the best one.

Thanks again for the advice, only just moved up from my very bad point and shoot around christmas, and classes this semester make it hard to go out and shoot regularly, so when I do, I have to relearn things, and I often don't accomplish what I intended to.

    TL;DR
More pics coming, thanks for help, more help is always welcome.

I actually prefer the 2nd one here. It has a nicer atmosphere about it. Also nothing is blown out.
