    Sunset

I took this picture tonight on the way home from work. I missed the really intense colors by about 10 minutes but I think it came out OK. The horizon is slightly off, thats one self-criticism on this one.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks

The sky is awesome and the reflection in the water seems to be as well, but the rocks are boring and are too dominating.

I agree, the rocks are too dominant and are drawing attention away from the good stuff. Water and sky look very good tho...

Thanks guys. I personally find ocean/sunset pics with an UWA lens to be incredibly boring unless there is something in the foreground. The exception being if there is fantastic lighting/colors in the sky that add substance to the picture.

I do agree the rocks are too big though. If I can find smaller ones along this stretch of overlook it would probably look better.

Maybe some nice vegitation will do the trick.. a boat? something like this. Try something that works less as a barrier for the eyes . (Just a suggestion, im not a pro myself)

Yea, a boat would have been good here I think. I know of another location I can go the next time the opportunity presents itself! Thanks again

The trick is to find something in the foreground that adds compositional value: rocks in the water that lead the viewers eyes to a spectacular sky.
