    Sunrise in Black and White?

Please give me some CC on this photo I took this morning ...I have been enjoying silhouettes of trees going to work every morning so I thought to take advantage of the time change and go for an early photo shoot ...

Powerlines rarely work in pictures. I think here they should be cloned. Without the birds this one wouldn't work. But I think with them it does. If you are going to do landscapes get you an ND grad, Cokin.

Re: Sunrise in Black and White?

Greg, thanks for the feedback. I do have a question: When you say I need and ND Grad (which I actually have) - what on the photo prompted you to say that ...there is quite a bit of gradation from the top to the bottom of the picture ...so, I don' think that is what you meant - was it the "pure white" on the bottom ...because this was actually not an exposure issue as much as it was "creativity" - I made in completely white on purpose so to emphasize the telephone pole and the wires ...because to me, that is what tells the story ...one of trees was cut down to make way for "progress" while the others are still there supporting natural life ...I need to work on making the message clearer ...thanks!

I don't think you need a GND for this. Exposure looks really good. As for the story you wanted to tell, the problem I see is that the cut down tree is so small it isn't noticed. The power lines play more of a distraction as well. The whole focus is on the tree which makes everything else elements that distract from it without adding anything to the shot.
