If it weren't for the white beams, yes.
Those orange beams in the distance are another matter entirely

    Re: Sunburst

I think these types of pictures are difficult to plan and execute with the sun angle changing, clouds moving, rays growing/diminishing, etc. Something about this one seems off balanced. I think it's how there's just a little more rays pointing to the right than the left. I think if the rays are more "decisive" (center balanced, mostly angled to the right, mostly angled to the left), it might better achieve your goal.

    Do I make any sense?

Hope you don't mind, I wanted to see what this would look like as a Pano and I like the results......I think you had too much sky with nothing happening.........

You could still probably take a little off the bottom too.....

I like it!! The rays angled here and there are in keeping with the clouds. I imagine them scuttling across the sky speedily and the sun taking whatever chance it can to punch through. But the pano takes away the menacing look of the clouds.

    Re: Sunburst

The shot in itself works well. I love those rays and how well you've captured them. As far as threatening goes, I don't think it captures that.
In fact to me it says a ray of hope. Where the threat is almost over and the sun'll break through any minute.

    Re: Sunburst

It is a beautiful shot, but I don't get threatening out of it. You might try overlaying a "vivid light" layer at about 20-35% opacity, that might bump up the threat level from yellow to orange. (NOOOO Homland security puns.... STOP ME!!!)

    Re: Sunburst

    Thanks for all the replies,

This was a spur of the moment shot - Clouds moving very rapidly with black clouds coming in fast from behind, which is why I tried for threatning.

Chow I do like the pano and your right about the bottom. However I like the shades of grey in the clouds at the top of the picture.

I guess rays of hope would be better title for this, but as stated above the threat was happening behind me.

    Marty,
Never used that techinique - my PS skills aren't that well established but I am learning. I will give it a go and see what happens.

    Loupey,
I wish I had control over the weather but with these shots it pot luck.
