Unfortunately the centre of interest is not strong enough to hold a viewer's attention and there is a way too much black and no detail in the photo. Take a look at some sun or sunset shots in photo magazines or the gallery here for hints on composition.
Interesting shot. As with the majority of sun shots, these can quickly become cliche and boring, but I think everybody has the type of shots there proud of. I like how you used the two trees in the foreground to balance the shot but Ronnoco brings up the valid point that there's no strong subject here to hold my interest.
I can only echo the comments already made on this shot.
I really like the potential that the trees in the foreground offer, I just wish that we could see a bit more of them as they are somewhat lost against the dark horizon. Perhaps if you had got a little lower, we might have been able to see more of the trees against the sky and the sun hitting them may have created more silouhette to contrast with the sun itself?
