    Summer sunrises.

The hot sticky weather sure yields some nice sunrises. All from the last week, all on my commute in.

Really like number 1, the colors are great and love the dark reaching out to the bright. Would like to see some more definition on the bridge further out maybe thru some sharpening. And I know your a stickler for horizons in the middle of pic.. .. ..it works here.
Please ask to edit photos and I'll do the same!
    Thx, Rod

I love the first picture, although I sense a slight tilt in it. With the third one, try cropping some of the sky and foreground out, and maybe make the tower off centered.

    Re: Summer sunrises.

Three lovely shots here, MB1. The first is very good in it's perspective of the bridge and composition. Perhaps a single lone soul standing on the bridge looking over could give that slight extra edge on interest and maybe scale to this.
the second image is nice for it's color and subject but I'm getting a slightly cramped feeling from it, maybe because of the dark blob of bush without detail and the large slab of concrete sloping up in the right frame. I still think it works, but I'm just nit picking this here.
The third is my favorite of the group. I like the soft pastel like color that goes well with the smoothness of the water, reflection and vast open space. I love the slight mist/haze about the tree lines in the horizon and the detail evident makes it even more interesting. There is a refreshing openess about this one which is opposite the way I feel of the second image.
All three are good, but the first and third are the strongest, I feel.

Great shots.Image three is my favorite.Very strong. You break all the rules in this capture. The calm reflection in this golden light is fantastic."Talk about the right moment".
Image one has a great sense of balance, depth. Most noticeable on the water.Very nice GB1.

I like the third one. Not as colorful as the others, but I like the mood that it conveys...clean and peaceful, soothing. May crop a bit from the bottom though

    About that third image......

What struck me that morning was how the humid sky and the reflection in the very calm water made the shoreline look like it was floating in the air with no support below or above it.

I suppose I could (and I may) try adjusting to a much lighter exposure to get an even more ethereal feel. I don't really want a tighter crop as that would remove much of the sky and reflection that gives the image the floating look that appeals to me here.

The bridge image was shot with my Canon 5D and the 17-40.

The two of the Washington Monument were shot with my new Olympus 420 and the kit lens. I am quite happy (almost amazed) at the image quality I can get out of the thing.

    Re: Summer sunrises.

MB - You are becoming the master of DC sunrises. That's good but what ever happened to sunsets?

I think I like # 2 the best, though to really be great the reflection would have to be clear and not rippled (calls for a reshoot). The third one looks like a Japanese painting to me, has that simplistic look that they favor there. It is nice too but I think I would prefer to see a little more of the sun - do you have another shot taken just a a minute later?
