    subtle sunrise

Took this along the Delaware beach in July. The colors are somewhat subtle, but not sure if in a good way or if it's too flat. Comments?

I realy like it GB. The composition is good and you have great detail in the foreground. It's very beautiful. I may have to try some kodachrome 64.

    Re: subtle sunrise

This is a pleasantly unusual composition that works. I wish for a bit more lighting in the fg area, but still this works well. The rising sun was exposed just right.
    Nicely captured.

Thks guys. I guess it isn't bad. I think Kodachrome is good for subtlety, better than Velvia :P.

Gary, it is a bit borderline w/ regard to detail there... usually foregrounds are wiped out by the contrast in a sunrise/set, but with the haze was able to at least get some detail. I did a different scan that revealed more, ... not sure I like it... attached here for your review.

    Re: subtle sunrise

Actually, in this other version the fg is what i would like but the middle ground also came up and that seems to spoil the mood that was achieved in the first. what i had in mind really was just the light sweep of a dodging brush just to the fg for a subtle increase in light.
It really was not such a pressing concern with me. . .just something that came to mind when i first looked and thought i would mention it.
Of these two your first was best, and as I said does not really need anything more done.
