Yes, I wasn't getting any feedback one way or the other, so I figured I'd cut my losses.

Ah, Seth, this place is slow. Somebody would've been here to critique sooner or later. I came in here just to do that

OK ...I am actually gonna give you some feedback without the photo ...because I wrote the whole paragraph once when it was still up, and then shut my window without posting it. I think the reason the photo works is because the EXIT sign balances the person on the left nicely. If it was not there, it would not work well with all the negative space. On other other hand, I am not sure the photo "communicates" well ...she is looking up and away and I am not sure what the significance of the EXIT really is ...except that it is red. So overall, it's ok, but I think you probably took so better shots.

Thanks so much, llewpics. The exit sign has no significance at all; I just thought it looked cool, provided environmental context, and balanced the composition in the bargain. But it might have been better if she were looking toward it.

It was a performance photo, so nothing was planned and I didn't have anything in mind thematically, of course. You kind of get what you get and it's all about the moment and expression (which may not be compelling in this particular image, mind you).

As for the negative space issue... that's an interesting one. I've seen some incredible photos make great use of negative space, BUT knowing when and where to use it is tough. I'm still not sure how to tell when it does work.

    Thanks again.
