Your compositional skills are always spot on. This made for a nice b&w. Glad to see you posting again.

There is much I like about this shot. The BW works well here, and the long shadows on the wall work nicely. I do, however, almost see 2 photos here ...once with the sign, shadows and the light ...and the other with the man and the fire hydrant. Perhaps try one crop with the man and hydrant portrait orientation. Either way, its a nice street scene. Technically, the only gripe that I have is that the top part of the image is very washed out with no detail - especially in the very upper right corner. Remembering that our eye is often drawn to the lightest part of the image, I wish it was darker, so the attention would be drawn to the subject instead.

I keep thinking what this would look like in saturated colours. I find there is something very unbalanced about the overall composition but sometimes this aspect can become a plus but I am not too sure here. Perhaps it could be more minimalist but what could go; Coppolas Deli?

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan
