    Street Art

Kind of running the same vein as my batman shot a few weeks ago. Do these work for anybody? Kind of random...possibly thinking of doing a series with the street art, though I'm not sure how quickly it would become cliche.

I think these work well. I like the contrasting colors in both shots and the textures of the surfaces add to the appeal as well.

They'll become cliche less quickly if you use a less documentary style of composition, perhaps showing the art within its environment more. Hope you don't mind this snippet to show a color balance adjustment I'd suggest on the first shot, sliding the midtones and highlights away from cyan and blue toward red and yellow.

    Gary,

Thanks for the words. I know if I do want to make this in a series, including such things as texture are going to be key. Thanks again.

    Chunk,

No problem with the snippet, I see what you mean. I'll be honest, I had made a color adjustment very close to the one that you recommend but I left the shot as it. I'll have to go back and see if I remember why I didn't change it.

    Thanks alot Chunk,

    Jared

Jared - I like the art and the photos. The flower looks 3-D. I also like how you got the shadow in the other shot - that adds a contempurary feel. You might want to up the contrast on that and see what comes out.

I think the time of the day will affect the final images immensely. Your choice so far is good, but you might also want to shoot the same scene at 3 or 4 different times: eg, 9 am 12 noon, 3, and right before sundown. Who knows what you will see.

These are interesting. The first one looks a bit strange as the painted flower is truly vivid while the white wall isn't all that white or bright. I guess that it could use a little more sharpness as well. I find the second one to be satisfying both in terms of composition and technical execution.

    Re: Street Art

    GB,

Thanks for the comments. Good call on the contrast, I'll have to try that out for them. I'll also have to try these at sunrise and dusk; the lighting might accent these better. Thanks again GB.

    Seb,

Glad to know you like the shots. I'll have to try the sharpness out on the first one.

    Thanks again,

    Jared
