I'm feeling rebellious here people so look out. . .this one has. . .a frame!
Dun-dun-duuuun. [So silly!] Actually I "framed" it so I could e-mail it to the Mommy and make it look nice since as she will probably forward it to the planet as is but why undo all that good effort just to post it here?

Taken at my friend's home as he was reading to his son. Personally I love the light in this one and the expression on Lian's face, but what does the board think? Please make sure to use any rules or guidelines you think might apply to tear this apart.

Lovely shot. Expression is everything. He's totally focused on the story! Only nitpick...bottom of his left shoe seems clipped. The frame is just right for the picture.

Alas it is true I did clip the bottom of his shoe off when originally composing this in the camera (although he does still have all of his toes). There was a lot of junk and distraction on the coffee table immediately to the right of them [you can see the corner of the table at the bottom right] and I was trying to keep the frame as clean as possible. Adjusting my position relative to them also allowed more junk in. I figured better to clip the bottom bit of his shoe than include any distractions. Thanks for your comments John! I always appreciate hearing from you.

P.S. Did you see the baseball pic I posted here? I was hoping to get your opinion on it as well.;) Go Vandals!

You could crop the legs out completely. Crop up close to the bottom of Dad's arm and down closer to his head and it would remove the distractions.

Hi CL,
I think the cropped photo is better. What I most like is the orange sweater in harmony with the lighting. I find that the man and the kid are reading different parts of the book which delivers a disorganised feeling. I just wonder what the shot would be if the kid is facing right and looking down the book. Thnaks for sharing.

Yes I agree with your analysis Yoyo. I have another image of them reading where their heads are aligned to the same page but I blew it on the focus. This was the second hurry up shot. The light and the orange sweater work so well together though. Oh well. Thank you for looking and commenting Yoyo I always appreciate your input.

Absolutely! The crop focuses attention on father and son and removes the distraction caused by the part of the table, the very slightly cut off shoe and the chair in the background.

Looks like the kids more interested in the book than his dad. I like the crop better, simply because it gets to the point very nicely. Nice work.
