    Stopped at Dover

Using a Canon G2 with the wide angle attachment.

BTW, on the other side of the body of water is France!

    Opinions?

A nice spot to watch the harbor. I would suggest a different camera angle to get the edge of the roof away from the horizon and give some angle to the bands of color rather than have the picture broke up into horizontal bands. That could also add dimension to the house.

    Hahaha...darn, maybe next time.

If you ever find yourself in Reseda, California, come on over. What? Where in the world is Reseda, California? It's the home of the 80's Karate Kid movies part 1 and 3. Lots of photo opportunities here....no, not really.

Thank you for not putting the bench in the center of the break waters.

Interesting shot, definitely a unique mix of lines and shapes. I think you could've had some great shots here including the bench by itself with that long, drawn out shadow and some neat abstract shots from the house. This shot doesn't much for me as is, but the place looks like a great area to shoot!

great shot, maybe you could have worked with filters, the shot looks like it needs something added, the shadow in the lower right hand corner is minor, but could be cropped to get of something the photo does not need, once again, simple shot that is fantastic

    Re: Stopped at Dover

    Sorry.
I hate images that are splined down the center, like a totem pole, everything balanced left to right. You could have moved to your right a little, and the bench seating would have lined up with the mouth of the breakwaters in the distance, producing a centerline shot.

I was shown once, and it may just have been that person, but to offset centers using the rule of thirds (or halves sometimes), splitting the image into thirds, either Horizontally or Vertically.
All two often, its easy to just shoot balanced vertically, ie, balancing out masts so they are equidistant apart from the center. By using thirds, you can effectively have two centers, a major and a minor, and thats what you have (I think...)

But then, I am no professional. I do like your picture, love the simplicity and the color spectrum you have captured. For me, if you had changed your viewpoint, and lined up the bench in the center, it would not have appealed to me in quite the same way.
