    Stilt Village

This location is also in Penang Malaysia (as will be for most of my post I guess, its my hometown anyway).

This is an old village, nearly 200 years old, its located right in the heart of Georgetown,...just a 100 meters walk away from the usual busyness of the city streets.

It is a stilt village above the sea.

In my first picture, I used one of the lesson learnt from my first post, which is blown out sky will be dull,...so I used photoshop to replace the sky,...because it is too blown out beyond repair with normal method....so thats cheating hehe to cover up my poor photography technique.

Your photography is your art copy righted to you and you can deal with and present it any way you wish, it is not cheating as long as all elements you use belong to you. There are no requirements or rules that applies to anything that is created and belong to you, anyone who try to tell you otherwise is making things up because they don't have the skills to do the same.

I like the first shot better but I wish the biker was in the first shot, or any human element would have improved it.

One of the things I love about these forums is that I get to see things in places I'll never have the opportunity to see myself.
    The photos are very interesting.
They do seem bright and washed out though, probably due to the poor light.
I'd like to see black and white versions.

    Hi Gerald,

For the first photo to have a biker or any human element in the photo, which part of the image or path do you think the human should be in to create the most powerful and interesting subject?
And direction walking away from me or walking towards me should make it look better?

I am asking this question, because at the moment I find that I am having a poor knowledge or "poor eye" in terms of where to place the human....
especially during the moment where I have to rush to shoot candids, I do not really know where to compose the human most of the time.

    Hi Frog,...

Thanks for the feedback, some time this week I would come out with a B&W version and see if it looks better...

The second shot of the cyclist needs a crop to shift him a bit to the right he's a little too central at the moment. As frog suggested this may be a suitable candidate for a B&W.

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

I have no issues with you editing my photos

    Keep posting!

I hate the satellite dish in the first photo. It takes a rustic, homey scene and hits it with an ugly stick, though that could be your purpose -- showing the irony.

I like the second one very much. I'm wondering if less depth of field/larger f/stop would have improved it with more focus on the man and less on the side walls. Good photo in any event. Makes me feel like I am there.
