It does look like a nose.
Are the petels on the lower left too distracting?

Yes, I think the intruding petals lower left are distracting.
Otherwise, I like the idea.

This looks like an orchid from the same family as my "piggies" shot earlier in the year, complete with the little gold boar tusks. I find the petals to the left mildly distracting, but not overly, they do act as a bit of a counterbalance to the main subject, as it's off center (they would be much more distracting if the 'nose' was centered)
