    Steel Mill Color

Learned heaps from last photo. This site is great. Here's another steel mill picture. I think color works here. C&C welcome.

I like the colors of the photo - although I'd do a b&w version too to check it out. The only thing I'd have done differently is try to place the lamp to the left in the composition - maybe also increase depth of field to get the lamp in focus.... Just ideas I would play with - not sure if I'd like them more until I saw the results.....

Thanks. Good suggestions. I didn't realize how out of focus the lamp was till I posted the image.

I'm at the bottom of the learning curve, but at least I can go nowhere but up.

The image isn't bad at all, and a lot of it is personal taste. I really like the industrial feel of it. I just kind of put out there what I would do if I were looking at that shooting opportunity. Looks like a really neat place to shoot.

I like this image, color and all. I agree with the comments about placing the street lamp over to the side more, but i do like how the focus is on the industrial site. Good subject and not a bad attempt at capturing it.

    Hi there

Like the others I am a little disturbed by the out of focus lamp - it draws the eye somewhat. Can you go back to that site? There is a lot of potential for getting a little closer and getting almost abstract shots.

    Cheers

I think maybe the lamp post just needs to go all together. You have a strong enough subject with it's great colors and maze of platforms to stand on it's own without it. My kind of subject for sure...

    Re: Steel Mill Color

Hi stefeb - A lot happening here for sure. I like how everything is progressing in the photo. Not sure if I like the out-of-focus streetlamp. I would definitely crop a little off the right to eliminate that black column on the edge there.

One thing that I see here is that the pic's overall composition seems to lack a subject, but I am not sure if this is bad, as there are so many things here that focusing on one of them may not the way to go. But I also find myself wondering, what is the point of the shot? I don't mean this in a negative way or anything, but I the pic does seem a little like a bunch of trees and not a forest. I think I'm the only person to comment on this, so maybe I'm off base. Interesting photo regardless,

I agree with Greg and would take out the lampost in postprocessing.

    Re: Steel Mill Color

You know - that same shot with the lamp turned on - maybe with some kind of atmospheric haze like mist or fog between it and the steel mill, and with the lamp to the left a bit and more in focus. That might be really kewl. Keep an eye on the weather and if the situation presents itself.....
