    Hello Jaedon~

I like your composition here, there is balance between the fountain and the trunk of that enormous willow tree. The colors work very well together. The scene has interest. It's a solid shot. It looks soft to me however, could be how you compressed it, but over all I like it.

Good composition, nicely framed. The big tree with it's leaves hanging down through the frame really adds to the picture.

I like the subject, but to me it looks a little to saturated. The greens are a little to green. The water on the fountain also looks green. Try backing off on the saturation just a touch. I have an edit if you would like to see it...

Where's the snow! Flowers! That's depressing.

However that is a good shot, particularly in terms of the shades and tones on the statue and the stone. Framing and composition are also good.

    Jaedon,

Is it my memory playing tricks or has this been posted before, because I am positive I have commented on it. Could be a different forum of course.

If not then a couple of things bother me
    1. the way the top of the bowl is level with the flowers
    2. the saturation looks a tad too much and
    3. on the right of the photo there are some white flowers which distract me and need to be cloned out or given more space.

    Re: Statue - Edwards Gardens

CL - Thankfor the comments.. I agree that this one looks soft but the original doesnt have the same feel so I think it was in the compression that I lost the focus point. The Raw file has the statue sharp with the tree slighty softer as it is a few feet further back from the statue.

Gahspidy - Thanks .. I try =) The tree was what originally caught my eye but as I walked around it I found this statue just sitting there lol.

Ronocco - Thanks for the comment. I take your's and CLs comments as a great compliment as I love the images you guys post.

Greg / readingr - The saturation was my fault. I work with the images in 16 bit from the camera but then I lose when I convert to jpeg as they are only 8bit so I tend to over compensate to get richer colors in jpeg. This one I must've gotten away from me a bit more than I thought.

readingr - it is possible that I posted either this or another image from the same day before but I could not find it in my gallery either here or on image shack but I have lost images from imageshack before for no explainable reason.
The flower bed being level with the bowl is an interesting thing to point out. Would you have shot with it lower of higher than the flower bed? The area I shot from was about 10 feet lower than the platform the statue sits on due to the geography.. but I could always bring a step stool when I go to reshoot.

Greg - please feel free to show me your edit. I am always interested in seeing how others would process my same shots differently.

Thanks again for he comments.. at least I know I am on the right track and doing something right =)

I would try both if you can.

If lower then it has to be away from an edge in the statue and if above it needs clear separation from the bowl.

So the question is how high can you get or how low can you get. My tripod allows me to dangle the camera below the legs or even collapse to about 3" off the ground; a useful tool.

I would go for above the bowl without seeing it in the viewfinder.
