Stars & Stripes - Happy Memorial Day

I hope this one's the slump breaker. Either way, I want to wish everyone a happy and safe Memorial Day.

Not a bad shot. A little unsaturated since the light shines through the flag, but still a good angle.

    Happy mem day too

    John,

It's a nice shot. I like the way the rays seem to come from behind the clouds. I also like the way you've captured the movement from the wind. I would second GB's comments about the saturation. It seems a little washed out, but I usually get accused of oversaturation

Ok, I went back and boosted the saturation on the flag. How's this work?
I might still need to play around some, but this is certainly better than the previous shot. Thanks for the comments.

John, this is a fine shot, and i thought the original was good. The second edit is even better and you should leave it at that. the third goes a bit too far. Good work in placing the sun behind the flag. I also feel your diagonal positioning of the flag pole works great a sets off a tension that enhances the feel of the picture.
    Well done.

I liked the first and when you boosted the saturation per suggestion it does work better.
Don't know between second and third which works best for me but leaning toward second.

I think you did a great job with this one John! I like your second image best. Well done with the sun rays, it's quite a "Glory" type of image. It's a very appropriate choice of subject matter, considering the holiday, and you did a great job of communicating your feelings of reverence for your flag.

I think that when you go out to just shoot for the fun of it and focus on the things that really interest you, that is when you're going to get the best results.
    Well done, slump ended.
