I actually like this, but it doesn't follow standard reasoning. Generally, the "hideous" on-camera flash shadow, chopped off leg, and taking photos from an obvious 5'-x" standing height are going to hurt photos.
The height comment is really suited for pictures like this, or say ducks in a pond where you're shooting down on them from the shore. More interesting are the photos that are water level or at the birds eye level. Otherwise they give the look of a snapshot.
Ha .. this angle makes the dog look a bit like a pig. It has a light, funny aspect to it.
