    Standing in the river

First time the summer I could get this far out into the river since it's been kinda wet.
I tried to get some sky and tree reflection in the water, but also the rocks under the water. I think i did that but would it have been better to just go for one or the other? Also, do you think I should crop the sky out completely?

Here is another from the same spot without the CP filter. Which do you prefer, or are they both crap?

None are crap. Each is just another step in learning.

I see nothing of interest on the bottom, nor in the sky (both reflected and upper left), so I would start by cropping the bottom up to the reflection on the right and the left until there is no sky. It still lacks a strong subject, but is a nice scenic image.

You might get better results with either very early or very late sunlight. Helps with the reflections and colors. The first is a good attempt though.
